چکیده

Controlling the selectivity of a chemical reaction with external stimuli is common in thermal processes, but rare visible-light photocatalysis. Here we show that redox potential carbon nitride photocatalyst (CN-OA-m) can be tuned by changing irradiation wavelength to generate electron holes different oxidation potentials. This tuning was key realizing photo-chemo-enzymatic cascades give either (S)- or (R)-enantiomer phenylethanol. In combination an unspecific peroxygenase from Agrocybe aegerita, green light CN-OA-m led enantioselective hydroxylation ethylbenzene (R)-1-phenylethanol (99 % ee). contrast, blue triggered photocatalytic acetophenone, which turn enantioselectively reduced alcohol dehydrogenase Rhodococcus ruber form (S)-1-phenylethanol (93

Silica/PVA biocatalytic nanofibers

Bioencapsulation has been a promising technique for various biotechnological and medical applications. Nevertheless, when encapsulated, the activity of the encapsulated biologicals is usually reduced due to diffusional resistance and use of organic solvents in the process. Here, we developed a sol–gel electrospinning technique to encapsulate a bacterium, Escherichia coli expressing a biocatalys...

Biocatalytic synthesis of vanillin.

The conversions of vanillic acid and O-benzylvanillic acid to vanillin were examined by using whole cells and enzyme preparations of Nocardia sp. strain NRRL 5646. With growing cultures, vanillic acid was decarboxylated (69% yield) to guaiacol and reduced (11% yield) to vanillyl alcohol. In resting Nocardia cells in buffer, 4-O-benzylvanillic acid was converted to the corresponding alcohol prod...

TiO2 photocatalysis

It is known that TiO2 exhibits good photocatalytic properties which could be used in various commercial applications such as water and air purification or photo-induced biodegradation of microbes. TiO2 occurs in nature in the form of three crystal polymorphs: anatase, brookite and rutile. For photocatalytic applications only anatase and rutile are of interest, however anatase shows greater phot...
